Orlando Richard, PhD

Dr. Orlando Richard is an Associate Professor of Management and the Jindal School of Management Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator at the University of Texas at Dallas. After serving in the United States Army and becoming a Desert Storm Veteran, he completed his Bachelors in Business Administration at Louisiana Tech University and his Masters in Business Administration at Grambling State University. He then went on to earn his Ph.D. in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior from the University of Kentucky as well as to complete a post doctorate in Human Resources Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management. He currently teaches courses in the Jindal School at both the Ph.D. level and MBA levels in the area of human resource management and organizational behavior.

His research generally addresses the acquisition, development, and integration of a diverse human capital pool, strategic human resource management system effectiveness, and organizational justice in the workplace. Professor Richard brings over two decades of academic experience, where he has written more than 40 refereed journal articles and has delivered more than 50 presentations and keynote addresses at professional conferences. His diversity research has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, and Human Resource Management among other reputable journal outlets. According to Google Scholar, his work has been cited more than 3,400 times. Based on his dissertation and other research, he has received numerous awards and recognition from the Gender and Diversity in Organization Division of the Academy of Management as well as the University of Texas at Dallas recognizing his commitment to diversity and inclusion in all endeavors.

In terms of service, he has continually volunteered to serve on the Committee for Support of Women and Minorities at the University of Texas at Dallas as well as two terms on the executive committee of the Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division of the Academy of Management. He has served on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Review and currently serves as Associate Editor at Group and Organization Management.

A native of Jonesboro, Louisiana, Orlando now lives in Lucas, Texas, with his wife, Tara.
